Skills Day: Sight Reading and Keyboarding
Purpose - This event acts as a yearly exam to ensure students are at the appropriate level musically for their age and grade.
Details - There are two types of tests that are available. The keyboard test requires knowledge of scales, chords, and arpeggios. The sight reading test requires students to perform a section of at least two pieces as perfectly as possible with only one try.
The student will be in a room with only one judge during this exam.
These tests tie into District Auditions as a requirement that must be passed at the appropriate level before attempting to perform at the audition. Please speak with me if you are interested in pursuing this major competition.
This event is run by Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association.
